    Top S.E.C.R.E.T: Summer of Spies

    By Jef Rouner

Summer programming is usually centered on superheroes, but this year the Children’s Museum of Houston has taken things to a whole new level with Top S.E.C.R.E.T: Summer of Spies. The museum has gone all out, converting part of the gift shop into a “Secret Agent HQ” for receiving new missions. Each mission — and there are six in all — yields a special watch (for setting up your secret agent code name) and a tool for that mission (you get to keep both). The missions are mostly fetch quests and logic puzzles, sort of like being in a first-person video game, but it’s an exciting time running through the exhibits trying desperately to stop make-believe villainy with a child high on imagination and slick tech. Every time you check in at HQ, you can see a leader board showing how you’re faring compared with other agents in the field. At a time when everyone is losing his or her mind over Pokémon Go, the best alternate reality game in town is at the Children’s Museum. Do not miss this one if you can possibly help it.
