Operation: Black Hat
Operation: Black Hat
Thirty Minutes Before…Operation: Black Hat
Agent Melon Collie carefully inserted the last probe into the metallic box. He crossed his fingers, ran the code, and let out a deep breath as “S.E.C.R.E.T.” appeared on the readout, showing the self-destruct mechanism was defused. Agent Gemini, who had been at a safe distance studying the morning’s security footage, walked over.
“Looks like you disarmed it,” Gemini said. “According to security footage, we have four more of those installed by R.I.V.A.L. agents overnight. Any idea what it does?”
“Well, it looks like a phone charger,” he replied, straightening his glasses. “But they are data transmitters and receivers. Undercover R.I.V.A.L. agents can plug in a phone, upload software and send it to R.I.V.A.L. or anywhere.”
Agent Gemini nodded, thinking. “So, why all the stations?”
“My bet is to hide what they are creating. Vex likely has multiple software engineers each creating a piece. Once all the pieces have been stored in these boxes, the devices will assemble and transmit the final program. And I would guess that it will be a nasty bit of malware aimed at S.E.C.R.E.T.”
She sighed heavily and pressed a button on her interface. “Director Angstrom? It’s worse than we thought. Please begin recruitment for Operation: Black Hat.”
