Operation: Blackout
Operation: Blackout
Thirty Minutes Before…Operation: Blackout
Agent Gemini tapped a few keys on her forearm interface and brought up a holoimage of the current readouts. The alpha and beta particles were still well within what they had determined as natural levels, but the gamma rays kept spiking in the zettahertz range at randomized intervals.
The crystals were outputting more energy than they should be with no clear source or reason. She needed to go down to Sublevel 7 and look at the original schematics.
NOBODY at S.E.C.R.E.T. wanted to go to Sublevel 7 – where all the original work that eventually became the focus of S.E.C.R.E.T.’s mission had started. It was where the incident had happened. The one that changed him. That changed everything.
She entered Special Filing Room K and located the correct schematics tube. As she found a lit table and began to slide the schematics out, her fears were confirmed by a call from Agent Maxi Mumm reporting that the energy level fluctuations were real…and getting worse.
This was bad and she was going to need help. She gathered up the schematics tube and called Director Angstrom. “Sir, we’re going to need some help. Please begin recruitment.”
He nodded and pressed a few buttons. “Agent recruitment call placed for…Operation: Blackout.”
