What is S.E.C.R.E.T.?
S.E.C.R.E.T. is a serious game where kids ages 8 and up take on the roles of secret agents, going on missions to thwart the plots of the Ridiculously Intelligent Villainous Agent League (or R.I.V.A.L.). Led by Arcturus Vex, R.I.V.A.L. is determined to steal a cache of energy-laden crystals hidden under many museums, and all related research materials. During their roughly 60-90 minute missions, S.E.C.R.E.T. Agents must use critical thinking, problem solving, observation, orienteering, creativity, and many other essential STEM-related content and skills to uncover clues, solve puzzles, and complete their missions to defeat Vex and R.I.V.A.L.
S.E.C.R.E.T. Agents are assigned missions in S.E.C.R.E.T. Headquarters (HQ). There, they receive their Codex (a device that gives them access to both S.E.C.R.E.T. and R.I.V.A.L. systems and tracks their progress through the game), a gadget – a device that is an essential tool they will need to complete their mission – attached to a S.E.C.R.E.T.-branded lanyard, and their Mission Book that will walk them through their Mission. Once they receive these items, they are briefed by S.E.C.R.E.T.’s Director Angstrom and Agent Gemini. During their mission, agents will travel throughout the museum, engaging with at least 10 different physical interactions, from decoding hidden messages to following invisible trails to crawling through a laser maze! At the end of their mission, they are rewarded with digital badges for both missions completed and skills earned. The S.E.C.R.E.T. system tracks each agent over time, knowing what missions have been completed and what badges have been earned.
